Lam Soon Cannery receives Distinguished Patron of the Arts Award 2016   Singapore  

Lam Soon Cannery, the holding company of Lam Soon Singapore, has been awarded the National Arts Council’s Distinguished Patron of the Arts Award in recognition for its significant contribution towards the development of arts and culture of Singapore. The award was presented by Grace Fu, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, at an award ceremony held at the Shangri-La Hotel. The Distinguished Patron of the Arts Award is the highest honour accorded to an organisation.

Lam Soon (Thailand) receives international award under the project “Healthy, Safety and Happiness Workplace”   Thailand  

Lam Soon (Thailand) received an international award under the project “Healthy, Safety and Happiness Workplace” arranged by the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health. The project supports the health and wellbeing of the working age population, managing minor illness, reducing accidents and good mental health under the supervision of the public health office in Trang.

   
Lam Soon (Thailand) receives FDA Quality Award 2016   Thailand  

Lam Soon (Thailand) was granted the “FDA Quality Award” 2016 by the Office of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its achievement for a morally and ethically relevant workplace in food manufacturing based on the quality standards with the system to respond to customer needs, and implementing corporate social responsibility (CSR). The ceremony held at Miracle Grand Convention Hotel on 18 February 2016 was presided over by Clinical Professor Emeritus Dr. Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, Minister of Public Health.

This year, the awards were granted to 51 companies from various industries classified into food, drug, cosmetic, medical device and household and public health hazardous products with morality and ethics in producing healthy products. The awards are granted based on the criteria of reliable standard focusing on quality systems and responsibility to society.

Lam Soon (Thailand) was awarded the Partner of the Year 2015 from Central Restaurants Group Co., Ltd. (CRG), the leader of food and beverage restaurant chains. CRG operates many well-known brands of restaurant chains such as KFC, The Terrace, Ootoya, Chabutong, Tenya, Yoshinoya and Mister Donut. Currently, CRG has partnerships with more than 200 companies. Lam Soon receives the bizSAFE Progressive Award 2016   Singapore   

Lam Soon is the winner of the bizSAFE Progressive Award 2016, another recognition from Workplace Health & Safety Council (WHS), Ministry of Manpower.

The bizSAFE Enterprise Progressive Awards recognise companies for their efforts in improving workplace health and safety under the bizSAFE programme. Lam Soon has progressed from level 1 to level 3 within six months of attaining bizSAFE level 1.

Lam Soon Cannery receives Patron of Heritage Awards 2015   Singapore  

Lam Soon Cannery received the Partner category award for Patron of Heritage Awards 2015 in recognition of our support for the object donation adoption project at the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) in 2015.

Lam Soon Cannery, the holding company of Lam Soon Singapore, adopted seven objects in the Chinese collection of the ACM. Three are on display in the new Scholar in Chinese Culture gallery, and four are on display in the Chinese Ceramics gallery opened in April 2016.

Lam Soon Cannery’s contribution reflects the importance of the preservation of Chinese cultural heritage. We are honoured to be part of this project to promote art appreciation among Singaporeans.

   
Naturel wins the 2015 Asia Excellence Brand Award   Singapore    Malaysia    Thailand  

Naturel achieved a new milestone by winning the 2015 Asia Excellence Brand Award. This award was organised by Yazhou Zhoukan, the only global Chinese regional magazine. Based on votes of the general consumers and survey of business enterprises, winning brands were selected from countries including Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia.

The award ceremony was held at Harbour Grand Hotel, Hong Kong on 21 December 2015.

   
Pasir Gudang plant is certified HACCP compliance by MOH   Malaysia  
In July 2015, our refinery, fats and margarine plant at Pasir Gudang is certified HACCP compliance by Ministry of Health Malaysia. Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point or HACCP is a recognised process and system in managing and controlling food safety hazards.

Such certification can expedite the issuance process of Health Certification on our export consignment from 21 days to 3 days.
   
Knife & Buruh won the Reader’s Digest 2015 Trusted Brands Awards   Malaysia  
On 16 June 2015, Knife & Buruh being the leading players, were once again honoured to be recipients of the prestigious Reader’s Digest 2015 Trusted Brand Award™ in the “Cooking Oil” category in Malaysia.

Knife Cooking Oil has won the coveted Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands Award (Platinum) while Buruh being a consecutive winner since 2006, received the Gold Award.

Knife created a short film in conjunction with the Mother’s Day, and received 491,000 viewers in youtube within 8 weeks. The film emphasized on the strong brand value proposition of “一家人齐齐整整”, i.e. family togetherness & bonding. It managed to capture the younger generation of viewers and received a lot of compliments.

Knife Brand wins IPOS SG50 Trade Mark (TM) Award Singapore  
Knife brand is one of the 5 Singapore brands that emerge as the winner of this inaugural Trade Mark (TM) Awards, making its mark for historic SG50.

The award is organised by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), which wanted to honour brands which have been registered as a trademark for over 50 years. Above that, the brand must have achieved success over time while also establishing a positive reputation for Singapore in consumer markets. This contest was held in conjunction with the nation’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Antabax wins 2014 Good Design Award   Malaysia  
2014 saw the Antabax antibacterial personal care range harvesting a bumper crop of accolades and awards for its marketing efforts including for its ground breaking CSR campaigns. The brand has now received an award for its streamlined and modern design aesthetic.

Among the awards were the Brand Laureate Award, the Sin Chew Business Excellence Award, the Star Business Awards (SOBA) and the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Award (AREA).

In December, Antabax was awarded the Good Design™ Award by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for the quality of its design that combines form and function to stunning effect.
   

Lam Soon’s Antabax wins the Prestigious Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards 2014   Malaysia  
Antabax won the prestigious 2014 Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards (AREA) by Enterprise Asia under the Health Promotion category for its nationwide campaign known as Antabax National Hand Hygiene Campaign 2013.

This award was presented in recognition of its brand’s efforts in promoting good hand hygiene practices among school children through two major projects – Patty Cake and the reality game show, Lat-Tali-Lat.

Enterprise Asia’s AREA Awards recognizes and honours Asian businesses for championing sustainable and responsible entrepreneurship, and held in four sub-regions of Asia, namely Southeast Asia, Eastern Asia, South Asia and West Asia.

On 28 May 2013, Knife & Buruh Cooking Oils, once again, won the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands Award in the cooking oil category in Malaysia for 2013.

Knife cooking oil scored more than three times that of the nearest competitior to receive the Platinum Trusted Brand award, while Buruh cooking oil, with its strong value proposition of ‘Tahan 3X Goreng’, was a consecutive winner since 2006. Both brands continue to gain trust & recognition by the Malaysian consumers.

Named 1st Runner Up in the Tropical Building category of the prestigious ASEAN Energy Awards   Malaysia  
Lam Soon Edibles Oils Penang Bukit Minyak Distribution Centre was named 1st Runner Up in the Tropical Building Category of the ASEAN Energy Awards, one of only two Malaysian building to achieve this honor.

The ASEAN Energy Awards is a regional competition that provides international recognition to entities that apply the concepts, systems and technology of energy efficiency and conservation. Winners become models in the Asean region to replicate and promote energy-efficient management programs.

LSEO is also proudly unveiled the Bukit Minyak Distribution Centre, the first Green Building Index (GBI) – INC (Industrial New Construction) certified distribution centre, in Malaysia.

It consists of a two storey air-conditioned office building with an estimated Gross Floor Area of 1,400m² and a naturally ventilated warehouse with an estimated GFA of about 12,000 m².

The distribution centre currently enjoys 33% saving in potable water consumption with rainwater harvesting for landscape irrigation and sewage flushing. Power consumption achieves 40% improvement, a result of design factors that maximize natural daylight and natural ventilation for cooling such as louvering, low-emissivity glazing and more.

The Bukit Minyak Distribution Centre is the second of the company’s new generation distribution centres for the 21st Century, the first being in Senai, Johor that was commissioned in 2006.

Southern Lion Sdn Bhd wins the Platinum Award of Malaysia Manufacturing Excellence Awards   Malaysia  
Lam Soon (M) Berhad's joint venture with Lion Corporation of Japan, Southern Lion Sdn. Bhd., emerged as the sole winner of the prestigious Platinum Award out of 60 odds applications from the process, engineering, automobile and pharmaceutical industries in Malaysia in the inaugural Malaysia Manufacturing Excellence Awards organised by US- based Frost & Sullivan Growth Consulting Company held in Kuala Lumpur on April 2, 2009.

In the on-site assessment, the nominees were judged on 12 parameters, ranging from "Innovation Adaption", "Orderliness, Safety and Environment", "Focus On Customers", "Supply Chain & Inventory Management". Southern Lion scored well particularly in "Innovation Adaptation" and, "Focus on Customers".

The Award was presented by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, YB Datuk Dr. Maximus Ongkili, and it was received on behalf of Southern Lion by its Production & Technical Director, Mr. H. Kimura.

On 15 November 2007, Naturel was named as one of the winners of the SPBA under Established Brand category   Singapore   
This category recognizes brands in establishment for at least 6 to 30 years.

Jointly organized by the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises and Lianhe Zaobao, the SPBA recognizes and honours Singapore brands that have developed and managed their brands effectively through various brand-related initiatives. A total of 108 entries were received, out of which 44 brands were named winners.

On 1st November, Lam Soon’s Knife brand cooking oil was awarded the exclusive International Brand Summit – Golden Brand Award 2006 for its heritage brand status and strong brand presence in Singapore and Malaysia.

The Golden Brand Award, a part of the International Brand Summit held in Singapore, was presented in recognition of strong emerging Asian brands and to encourage corporate branding among Chinese entrepreneurs in the Asia Pacific region.

The 3 variants of Naturel range of cooking oil : Naturel Premium Blend, 100% Canola and 100% Sunflower cooking oil were endorsed with the ‘healthier choice’ logo, awarded by the Ministry of Health in Brunei. The products were officially launched in Brunei by Lam Soon’s appointed distributor, Sullivans (B) Sdn Bhd. The launching ceremony was held on 24 August 2006 at the Utama Grand Store in the Mall, Gadong, in the presence of Mdm. Hajah Masni Haji Ibrahim, Head of Community Nutrition of Public Health Service.

This Management System serves as a guideline to the organization to control OH&S risks associated with activities and improvement of OH&S performance.

On January 2006, Pacific Oleo’s Pasir Gudang site was successfully recommended for the achievement of the OHSAS 18001 certification by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Ltd. The original certification was later obtained on 12th April 2006. This certification is significant to the existing QHSE Management System which has always emphasized on Occupational Safety and Health since its early establishment. The implementation of OHSAS 18001 shall further strengthen and complement the Behaviour Based Safety (BBS) System which has been in place since 2004.

In August 2005, Knife brand was among the 24 winners of the inaugural Heritage Brand Award - a new feature of Singapore Promising Brand Award (SPBA) 2005. The award served to acknowledge and pay special tribute to time-honoured home-grown brands. The final 24 was selected from over a hundred nominations by a distinguished panel of judges from business, journalism and academia based on merits of brand establishments, national recognition, the brand's delivery of promise and overseas presence for over 40 years.

Pacific Oleochemicals (formerly known as Akzo Nobel Oleochemicals) has committed as a signatory to the voluntary initiative since it was launched by Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia (CICM) in 1994. The RC Awards was aimed to provide recognition to Responsible Care signatories that have made most progress in implementing the Six Codes of Management Practices.

In March 2004, United Palm Oil Public Company Limited (UPOIC), a subsidiary of Lam Soon (Thailand), was awarded ISO 9001:2000 by SGS Institute, for its mill and plantation. The ISO certification for plantation is the first one of its kind issued in Thailand, and covers agricultural practices including harvesting.

  In the 2002 Singapore Advertising Hall of Fame Awards, the Family Matters TV Campaign Award went to Lam Soon Singapore for its Knife cooking oil commercial. The new award, supported by the Ministry of Community Development and Sports, aims to promote pro-family adverts in the mass media.

Viewers will be able to see this popular award-winning commercial on Singapore television over the forthcoming Chinese New Year.

As part of a broader programme to increase the investor base and promote Thai stocks, the Stock Exchange of Thailand in January 2002 released a list of the top-performing stocks over the past three years in terms of dividend payments.

The leader was agribusiness firm United Palm Oil, an associate of Lam Soon (Thailand). It had an average dividend yield of 21.6% from 1999 to 2001. Second on the list was Lam Soon (Thailand) at 20.09%.

The Bangkok Post reported local fund managers as saying that dividend stocks offered a good opportunity for investors, given current market prices.

In conjunction with Malaysia Giant's 2001 Supplier Charity Dinner, Lam Soon (M) Berhad was awarded the Best Service Supplier of the Year Award (2001) for the Category of Cooking Oil. The award was given for the contribution of service level, sales and profitability to Giant in the Cooking Oil category. Lam Soon (M) Berhad was also awarded the Category Management Award 2001 (Cooking Oil) in recognition for the active role played as the Category Captain for cooking oil. The award was given for the excellent service level, trade marketing support and re-merchandizing support for current and new outlets opening.
   
Lam Soon Singapore continues its tradition of creative award winning advertisements by winning the TV Campaign Of the Year Award for Knife cooking oil at the 2001 Singapore Advertising Hall of Fame Awards.    Singapore  
This gala event is jointly organized by the Institute of Advertising Singapore and the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents (or 4As), the yearly awards salute the men who made ads as well as the men who pays them to do so.

Our Knife cooking oil advertisement represents a contemporary Singaporean family, highlighting the strength of the bond despite the cultural changes of today. This campaign documents the weekly get-together of a family over a delicious meal. Rather than being told from one central point of view, 4 stories are told from the perspective of each family member. And despite the family members' differing points of view, we quickly begin to understand however, that there is one underlying truth - Mum's cooking is what brings them all together, using Knife cooking oil.
   
In the 2001 Reader's Digest SuperBrands survey by its readers, Knife brand cooking oil achieved Platinum Status Award in Singapore, and Asia's Gold Award for the second consecutive year.    Singapore

In December, Lam Soon (Thailand)'s factory was awarded the HACCP certificate from SGS, becoming the first manufacturer in the vegetable oil industry in Thailand to attain this certification.   Thailand

It ensures that food produced under the control of quality management system is safe for consuming, free from any hazard of disease, chemical and other foreign substances.

Bhd., a 50:50 joint venture between Lion Corporation of Japan & Lam Soon (M) Berhad, was awarded ISO 9001 & 9002 for the design and manufacture of detergents and marketing of toothpaste and toothbrush, becoming the first among detergent and oral cares companies in Malaysia to receive such prestigious awards.

  In July, August, September and October, Lam Soon Singapore was ranked as one of the top two suppliers in the Singapore retail market. Lam Soon was the only company to achieve a service level of 99% for the three consecutive months.   Singapore

The Editor congratulated the listed companies and commented: "Clearly you are all fulfilling your professional duty to consumers, retailers and yourself by ensuring that your products are reaching the shelves - avoiding out-of stocks."

Earlier in the year, the same commercial was awarded a Certificate Of Excellence at the 1996 MEDIA Asian Advertising Awards.

The commercial, which ran on Singapore television in 1996 and 1997, is a departure from the usual "slice of life" approach. It features a family of "claymation" mice that faces hard times after the human occupants of the house switch to Knife cooking oil. "There won't be any leftovers" says one of the mice, as the famished rodents pack their suitcases and leave in search of better supplied quarters.

Food so delicious, you're guaranteed no leftovers is the message of this commercial, which emphasizes the tastiness of food cooked in Knife oil.
